Good database design is the foundation of any computer system. This applies both when a formal database package, such
as Oracle or MS Access is used and also when a system just uses a collection of ISAM (indexed) files.

design process obviously involves a stage of consultation. This
is not a particularly technical process. It is usually
done in liaison with the end-user of whom no in-depth computing
